Reinhard M. Szymandera
Surrounded by his family, Reinhard Michael Szymandera, age 68, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Buxheim, Germany, November 15, 1946, son of the late Mieczyslaw and Anny (Nee: Hirsch) Szymandera.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Barney during the Vietnam War. On July 10, 1971 he was united in marriage to Ivy C. Petersen. Reinhard was employed at Harris Metals, owned and operated Savon Liquors, and was a driver for First Transit (Laidlaw) Bus Company for fifteen years until his disability. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing Texas Hold’em Poker, Black Jack, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Ivy; 3 daughters, Erica (David) Peterson, Tara Szymandera, Stefanie Szymandera; grandchildren, Shayne and Taylor Peterson, Katie, Drew, and Darin Foxcroft, Jadyn and Chase Szymandera; brothers, Michael (Vondell) Szymandera, Allen (Julie) Szymandera; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Lynn Szymandera, Neal (Patti) Petersen, Heather (Steve) Tumaniac; his good friend, Gus Stanisik; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends here in the U.S., Canada, Germany, and Poland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arnold.
